ASI’s Counselor Wins Second Neal Award for Editorial Excellence

Presented for the State of the Industry Issue

TREVOSE, PA – April 2, 2008  Advertising Specialty Institute®, the largest media and marketing organization serving the advertising specialty industry, announced today that Counselor magazine won its second Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Award for editorial excellence.

The publication was selected winner of the category “Best how-to article or subject-related series of how-to articles” for its annual State of the Industry issue.  The Neal Awards had only 35 winners, selected from 100 finalists and 1,050 entries.

“This is the second consecutive Neal Award for ASI – what the business media industry refers to as the ‘Pulitzer Prize of the Business Press’,” said Timothy M. Andrews, president and chief executive officer of ASI.  “My congratulations to everyone associated with Counselor and, in fact, all of our editorial products, which serve our industry exceedingly well in print, video and online.”

“The award recognizes the profitable business ideas provided in the State of the Industry issue – information readers use to increase sales and to improve their businesses all year – and reinforces the value of Counselor to advertisers,” said Andrews.  “Suppliers and distributors appreciate the opportunity to participate in the State of the Industry issue, providing some of the data that benefits the industry.”

The State of the Industry issue is published around July and explores market forces that impact sales, like sourcing trends, inventive new products and innovative best practices, and also announces the highly-anticipated Top 40 Distributors and Top 40 Suppliers rankings.

ASI was considered among other competitive entries from many widely-acknowledged companies, including Forbes, McGraw-Hill and Nielsen, and it also won a Neal Award last year for providing ideas to help distributors grow their companies through features like the Counselor’s “Family Business Spotlight.”  It is the only publisher in the advertising specialty industry to be a finalist for a Neal Award.

More than 25,000 ASI distributors, suppliers and decorators, including 11,000 subscribers to Counselor, use ASI’s editorial resources each day to learn about the latest industry news, case studies and promotional products information.
