ASI Establishes Four New Advisory Boards

Members will help shape future direction of industry, nominations are open

TREVOSE, PA – November 2, 2009 – The Advertising Specialty Institute®, the largest media and marketing organization serving the advertising specialty industry, announced today it is establishing four new advisory boards.

The four boards will meet regularly to discuss and debate important issues affecting the marketplace and participating leaders will recommend and take action to drive the industry forward.  The new boards join ASI’s existing advisory boards for ASI Show, ASI Education and ASI’s six magazines.

The new boards are:

  • ASI Advisory Board:  Provides insights on a range of issues, with a focus on ensuring the overall continued health and success of the industry.
  • Technology and Operations Advisory Board:  Provides guidance on improving efficiencies through the use of technology, standards and operations.
  • Marketing, Public Relations and Industry Research Advisory Board:  This board is designed to help improve the marketing and public relations efforts of the industry, and will focus on helping to better educate end-buyers about the power of promotional products.  Board members will also offer early insights on surveys and serve as press contacts.
  • Safety and Legislative Advisory Board:  Advises ASI on safety and legislative issues facing the industry from the distributor, supplier and end-buyer perspectives.  This board requires a passion for safety and legislative issues and will educate ASI members via webinars and other outreach vehicles to help ensure our industry is actively involved in shaping legislation and compliance.

The announcement was made during the third annual ASI Power Summit, the industry’s premier three-day meeting of 200 leading executives and owners of successful advertising specialty businesses.

“Input, opinions and recommendations provided by leaders from our existing boards have been extremely valuable and will be even more so as we face new issues and implement new methods to improve the way we all do business,” said Timothy M. Andrews, president and chief executive officer of ASI, who will serve as the chair of the ASI Advisory Board.  “The additional boards will expand our knowledge and outreach into four additional areas and we’ll share outcomes with ASI members and the industry.”

The four groups are open to industry distributors, suppliers, decorators, multi-line reps and educators.  Any ASI member company may nominate an employee for consideration by the nominating committee.  A vote of all ASI members will be conducted online as part of the process to select board members.  New board members will be announced in January 2010 and all boards will meet in-person at least once each year and also via quarterly conference calls.
