ASI provides industry interns with free online training, access to ESP® and chance at scholarship
TREVOSE, PA – May 4, 2020 – The Advertising Specialty Institute® (ASI) today announced its fifth annual summer internship program is now open to any member company in the promotional products industry, providing free online training, access to ESP® and a chance for an intern to win a $1,000 scholarship.
“During an especially challenging time, ASI is committed to going ahead with our industry intern program, for the students who depend on the experience and the promo companies in need of extra help,” said Timothy M. Andrews, president and chief executive officer of ASI. “I’m thrilled so many distributor and supplier companies have already committed to the program and we’re ready to help any ASI member figure out a way to make the program work for them.”
If a business is open, interns can work there, or from home. For essential businesses producing PPE products, an intern can work at a factory, warehouse or office.
The 2020 ASI Summer Internship Program is free to ASI members who hire one or more interns to work at their company for the summer. Click here for more information or to register an intern. Intern start dates range from mid-May to mid-June. Already, over 30 interns have joined this year’s program.
Hiring an intern helps companies gain brand advocates, get fresh ideas, enjoy an extra set of hands and create a talent pipeline for future hiring. It also helps the industry teach a new generation about promotional products.
Since ASI started its program in 2016 to attract more young professionals to the industry and get them excited about the power of promotional products, nearly 1,000 interns have participated. During the summer of 2019, a record 316 interns worked at 21 supplier and 222 distributor companies, including alphabroder (asi/34063), Axis Promotions (asi/128263), Genumark (asi/204588), Lion Circle Corp. (asi/67620), Pride Products Distributors (asi/299307), Proforma (asi/300094) and Vantage Apparel (asi/93390). Interns attended schools like Stanford, UC Berkeley and Hofstra.
“We were able to spend the summer working with someone young, still in school, who had fresh ideas and was very energetic about working with us, learning and growing,” said an executive from a 2019 participating company. As an intern shared with ASI, “Through this internship, I learned promotional items are opportunities to present tangible brand engagement and calls to action that get results.”
ASI provides each intern with:
